OK,i'll jump first.
I went to the HOG on 10/20/07 for the drum expo.I went to get a deal on some drum heads, which I did.All new Aquarian studio x and CC's for the bottoms,8 total, all for under a hundred.I went down stairs as a clinic was starting. It was a guy named John Faviccia.I had never heard of him. When I asked him who he played for he told me some names in the jazz field that I was unfamiliar with.He started by warming up with a CD that he recorded, less the drum track. It was amazing. His inter-dependence kind of reminded me of Steve Smith.(If you've ever seen the History of the U.S. drum beat you'll know what i'm talking about, but not as mind blowing)He then handed out a sheet with 16th notes and showed how you can do an awsome drum solo just by accenting certain notes and adding different drums.Basically a drum roll but with speed and control. It makes me wish I had 8 or 10 hours a day to play drums.
Then he went into meter and timing. You know, off beat rolls and fills and then coming back in on time. That always blows me away. All in all,one of the best drummers I have ever seen,No doubt. He will be in town again on November 8th.Murph's on Titus near the HOG at 6 PM.25 bucks for the clinic and I guess they feed you too.I will definetely be there.

Funny that was to be a joint effort with this site but the hog I guess forgot to mention that didn't they.
O well.
Yah I heard about it from Bruce. He said he can play like no tomorrow
By the way I picked up some new drumheads Evans G2 coated on the 12-13-16. Man I love these heads also picked up a new back kick head for the old yami. What a big sound I am getting now. And freaking loud!!!!

Chris, this guy is just amazing. If you can I suggest you come and see him.
I wouldn't miss it for anything.
I took Steve's advice and after some research deceided to opt for the Aquarians. They had to order them. The HOG's drum head stock is pretty weak.I'll let you know what I think when I put em on.

Murph's? I would have never pegged that place for a drum clinic especially when the Cooper Deli is across the street! Anyway, I wish I had attended as I need new heads too and some new ideas for a solo which sounds like I could have grabbed from this guy as I have one tomorrow night. Did anything else jump out at you or was this the only guy you saw? I love doing business at the HOG; you just have to know what your doing with certain people there. I gave them an old shoe one time and got an extra $20 off. There was a hole in it too...

Yea,Murph's,go figure.I've never been there.Carmine Appice was up next.I saw him a couple months ago at a HOG clinic.I couldn't stay,I had band rehearsal. One other thing I forgot to mention.John played a 13" brass snare drum.He plays Yamaha drums so i'll assume it was a Yamaha snare. This drum was KILLER!It was crisp with an awsome attack.I asked him what model it was but he didn't have time to talk equipment.I have to emial him to find out.
And yea,I love the House.I know you guys talk about Cadence alot but if you got cash and you know what you're talking about you can really strike a good deal.

He's a Yamaha endorser but play's a Ludwig Brass snare. 6-1/2" depth. I was there too. The guy was pretty awesome. I'll have to miss him this time because of a gig downtown. Murph's is one of my hang-outs too, great wings!

no kidding. I plan on going to the Ray clinic at the hog on the 14th. That guy has played with everybody.
If you are not playing then stop over to Beale tomorrow night. We have a great Rochester guitar player from Tres' Cool Dan Zea sitting in for the night.
