Did a show with Jive Mama this past Saturday night, with a rockabilly/surf band -- Jive Mama. Their drummer -- John Campbell -- is quite a player.
First thing that struck me was his kit. BIG sizes. White Ludwig Classics in 26" kick, 14" rack tom, then 16 and 18 floors. 6.5x14 Ludwig Supra (Bonham's choice) snare. Wide open. Sounded great. Plus, SpyBar has amazing acoustics.
John definitely propels the music. JMs play that revved-up rockabilly, so the drummer has to be high-energy. John comes through in spades. Nice job!
