I was wondering what you all use under your snare.I have a Ludwig supraphonic.I recently switched from a 20 strand to a TKO percussion 42 strand and I have to say I like it.It gives my snare a much mellower sound and takes away that tinny sound. And the rim shots sound much better as well. And believe it or not,it even has a better feel.
Rock on dudes.

Yeah, I'm all over 42 strand snares. The Tama John Tempesta sold me on them.
The snare that NDC made was built to kind of be a maple version of the Tama, which is brass.
I even retrofitted a Yamaha brass 14x7 with 42 strand snares. Put die cast hoops on it too. It was an awesome snare before, now it's perfect (for me anyway).
If you don't already, I highly recommend putting die cast hoops on your snares too.

The die cast hoops ain't cheap. You'll probably be $80ish into it for the pair. I'll be surprised if HOG has them in stock. I had to order mine from GC. It's worth the cost and the wait though. It'll turn that snare into dangerous peice of equipment. Loud, focused and it should still retain its tone and sensitivity--especially if you put 42 strand snares on it.
