I just got the John Tempesta signature ("stealth") snare from Tama. I don't know why it's called "stealth", because it is anything but quiet.
It is 7 x 14 2mm thick brass shell. 3 mm die cast hoops and a 42 strand snare. It is awesome. I like it almost as much as my Pearl reference snare--and cost about the same (just under $500).
It has body and projection and the 42 strand snare gives it a lot of sensitivity. It is put together extremely well and is is aesthetically pleasing. Everything is black/blackened (depending on what you choose to call the color) including the lugs, rods and hoops.
I highly recommend it. If you like big brass snares then there is no choice--you must have it.
